Fees & Insurance
Understanding your options
Understanding what therapy will cost shouldn't be complicated. I accept Original Medicare, participate with select commercial insurance plans, and offer private-pay therapy. Insurance participation can vary depending on the state where you're located and your individual plan, so we'll verify your coverage before beginning therapy.
Medicare
I accept Original Medicare. Finding a therapist who accepts Medicare isn't always easy, and I'm glad to offer this option to clients who want to use their Medicare benefits for psychotherapy. Your services may be covered subject to your individual Medicare benefits, deductible, and coinsurance. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, coverage and network participation may be different, so we'll want to verify your specific plan.
Commercial Insurance
I participate with select insurance plans, including plans available through my partnership with Alma. Plans may include: Optum / UnitedHealthcare · Aetna · Cigna · Carelon Behavioral Health. Participation can vary by state and by individual plan. Contact me with the name of your insurance plan and the state where you'll be receiving therapy, and we can determine whether I'm currently in-network with your coverage. Being listed here does not guarantee that I am in-network with every plan offered by an insurance company. Coverage should be verified before beginning therapy.
Private Pay
My fee for a standard individual psychotherapy session is: $150 for approximately 50 minutes. Private pay is available if you prefer not to use insurance or if I am not in-network with your particular plan.
Out-of-Network Benefits
If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, you may have out-of-network benefits that reimburse you for a portion of the cost of therapy. I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. Because benefits vary considerably, I recommend contacting your insurer directly to ask about coverage for outpatient mental health services.
A note about insurance and privacy
When insurance is used to pay for psychotherapy, insurance companies generally require certain information to process claims, including a mental health diagnosis. If you prefer not to use insurance, private pay keeps your treatment outside the insurance billing process. I'm happy to discuss these options with you so you can decide what works best for your circumstances.
