Online Therapy in Maine
Work with a Maine-licensed therapist from wherever you are
Finding a therapist who feels like the right fit can be challenging—especially when your choices are limited by where you live.
I'm Luke Schlimme, LCSW, and I'm licensed to provide online psychotherapy to clients located throughout Maine. You can meet with me from your home or another private space without needing to live near my office—or even in the same state where my practice is physically based.
For most of my clients, therapy happens online. I've found that meaningful therapeutic relationships can develop just as naturally through teletherapy as they can when we're sitting in the same room.
Issues I help with
Anxiety & Stress
I help you understand the roots of your anxiety and develop practical ways to manage stress and find calm.
Trauma & PTSD
Working together to process difficult experiences and find a sense of safety and resilience in the present.
Relationships
Improving communication and understanding the patterns that shape how you relate to the people in your life.
Life Transitions
Navigating the identity shifts and uncertainty that come with major changes in your work or personal life.
Depression & Feeling Stuck
Finding ways to work through feelings of sadness or disconnection and reconnect with what matters to you.
LGBTQ+ Concerns
A supportive space to explore questions of identity, community, and the unique challenges of LGBTQ+ life.
My approach to therapy
I believe therapy works best when you can talk honestly about things that may be difficult to say elsewhere and trust that you'll be heard without judgment.
My approach is supportive and collaborative, but I'm not simply there to agree with everything you say. As we get to know one another, I may ask questions, point out patterns, offer another perspective, or gently challenge you when I think it could be useful.
Sometimes we'll focus on practical strategies for something you're dealing with right now. Other times, we may become curious about why a particular situation affects you so strongly or why certain patterns keep showing up.
There's room for both.
Online EMDR therapy in Maine
I'm also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and can incorporate EMDR into online therapy when it's appropriate.
EMDR can be helpful when difficult experiences or memories continue to influence how you feel, react, or see yourself in the present.
Some clients contact me specifically because they're interested in EMDR. With others, EMDR becomes an option we consider as our work develops.
Online therapy throughout Maine
Because I'm licensed in Maine, we can work together through teletherapy as long as you are physically located in Maine at the time of your session.
That means online therapy is available whether you're in Portland, Bangor, Augusta, Lewiston, South Portland, or elsewhere in the state.
Sessions are approximately 50 minutes and take place through a secure video platform. You'll need a reliable internet connection and a private place where you feel comfortable talking.
Medicare, insurance and private pay
I accept Original Medicare and participate with select commercial insurance plans, including Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in Main. Insurance participation can vary by plan and location, so we'll verify your particular coverage before beginning therapy.
My private-pay fee is $150 for a 50-minute session.
